This option allows you to design and curate your very own products that are uniquely catered to your personality and style. If you’re not sure where to start, read our helpful guide to custom furniture, so you can begin the process. Once your new furniture is complete, you’ll appreciate the feeling of having one-of-a-kind products that have been designed by your own creativity and imagination. ## **Choosing a Style** The first step in our guide to custom furniture is choosing the furniture style. Whether it’s a three-cushioned [sofa](https://www.giorgibros.com/all/sofas/room-type.aspx), a chaise, or an accent chair, you’ll want to start by exploring the range of product styles available to you. Make sure you note the measurements of the furniture, so you’re sure it will fit nicely into the room, too. [Burton James Furniture](https://www.giorgibros.com/burton-james-furniture/) specializes in offering custom furniture for your home. Look for products that feature the shape, size, and unique details that make them special. The goal is to choose a furniture style that fulfills your needs both in terms of functionality and design. ## **Selecting Upholstery** After you decide on the furniture style, it’s time to pick out an upholstery fabric. Some custom furniture manufacturers also offer leather as an option, so explore your options carefully before you move forward. Choose durable fabrics that are easy to clean or pick something that will add an elegant aesthetic to your furniture. Learn about the properties of each fabric option so that you’re sure it’s the right material for your needs. You’ll also be able to select a fabric for accent pillows, when applicable. Once you decide on the fabric type, select your favorite color or pattern. ## **Final Touches** Finally, this guide to custom furniture includes selecting your preferred welt and finish. The welt is how the furniture is constructed, and it refers to the way the seams are finished. You can also choose the finish on the legs of your new furniture. Options may include anything from solid wood legs in your choice of color to metal legs in a metallic finish. Before you purchase your custom furniture, it’s important to view the final product carefully. If you’re designing the furniture online, be sure to zoom in and examine every detail carefully. Consider how the furniture will look in your home with the color, leg style, and upholstery you’ve chosen. If you’re not happy with a choice, you can easily change it online first to try something else. With a bit of planning and some creativity, you can design your very own beautiful custom furniture to give your home a unique touch.   Comments are closed. « [Our Favorite Trending Home Office Looks For 2021](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/2021/03/09/our-favorite-trending-home-office-looks-for-2021) [Should I Get A Sofa Or Sectional?](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/2021/04/16/should-i-get-a-sofa-or-sectional) » Search - There are no suggestions because the search field is empty. ### Recent Posts ### Archives - [July 2019 (3)](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/archive/2019/07) - [September 2021 (3)](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/archive/2021/09) - [March 2022 (3)](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/archive/2022/03) - [May 2022 (3)](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/archive/2022/05) - [June 2022 (3)](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/archive/2022/06) ### Category - [Living Room Furniture (39)](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/tag/living-room-furniture) - [Bedroom Furniture (18)](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/tag/bedroom-furniture) - [Design Tips (18)](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/tag/design-tips) - [Dining Room Furniture (16)](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/tag/dining-room-furniture) - [Home Office Furniture (9)](https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/tag/home-office-furniture) - Account - [My Account](https://www.giorgibros.com/modifyaccount.aspx) - [View Cart](https://www.giorgibros.com/viewcart.aspx) - [Wish List](https://www.giorgibros.com/favorites.aspx) - [Privacy Policy](https://www.giorgibros.com/privacy-policy.inc) - [Terms and Conditions](https://www.giorgibros.com/terms-conditions.inc) - Company - [About Us](https://www.giorgibros.com/about-us.inc) - [Brands](https://www.giorgibros.com/brands.inc) - [Showroom](https://www.giorgibros.com/showroom.inc) - [Promotions](https://www.giorgibros.com/displayflyer.aspx) - [Showroom Specials](https://www.giorgibros.com/clearance/skustatus-type.aspx) - [Customizable Furniture](https://www.giorgibros.com/customizable-furniture-bay-area.inc) - [Join Email](https://www.giorgibros.com/join-email.inc) - [Blog](https://www.giorgibros.com/blog/) - [Pay My Bill](https://swipesimple.com/links/lnk_c285d68a) - [Contact](https://www.giorgibros.com/contact-us.inc) - Useful Links - [Made in America](https://www.giorgibros.com/made-in-america.inc) - [Interior Design](https://www.giorgibros.com/interior-design.inc) - [Financing](https://www.giorgibros.com/financing.inc) - [Window Treatments](https://www.giorgibroswindows.com/) - [Design Center](https://www.giorgibros.com/design-center.inc) - [Room Planner](https://www.giorgibros.com/room-planner.inc) - -   Giorgi Brothers Furniture Showroom [211 Baden Avenue South San Francisco, CA 94080](https://www.google.com/maps/dir//giorgi+bros+san+fran/@37.6539137,-122.4799707,12z/data=!4m8!4m7!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x808f79af02746b41:0xb50a696f173a6f06!2m2!1d-122.40993!2d37.6537985) **Phone:** 650-588-4621 [**Get Directions**](https://www.google.com/maps/dir//giorgi+bros+san+fran/@37.6539137,-122.4799707,12z/data=!4m8!4m7!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x808f79af02746b41:0xb50a696f173a6f06!2m2!1d-122.40993!2d37.6537985) Monday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday: 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Proudly serving [Menlo Park](https://www.giorgibros.com/furniture-store-menlo-park-ca.inc), [Los Gatos](https://www.giorgibros.com/furniture-store-los-gatos-ca.inc), [Mill Valley](https://www.giorgibros.com/furniture-store-mill-valley-ca.inc), [San Anselmo](https://www.giorgibros.com/furniture-store-san-anselmo-ca.inc), [Oakland](https://www.giorgibros.com/furniture-store-oakland-ca.inc), [San Jose](https://www.giorgibros.com/furniture-store-san-jose-ca.inc), [San Mateo](https://www.giorgibros.com/furniture-store-san-mateo-ca.inc), [Redwood City](https://www.giorgibros.com/furniture-store-redwood-city-ca.inc), [Alameda](https://www.giorgibros.com/furniture-store-alameda-ca.inc), [San Ramon](https://www.giorgibros.com/furniture-store-san-ramon-ca.inc), and the surrounding areas. © 2026 Giorgi Bros Furniture Showroom | [Site Map](https://www.giorgibros.com/visual-site-map.inc) ```json { "@context" : "https://schema.org", "@type" : "BlogPosting", "author" : { "@type" : "Person", "name" : "giorgibros", "url" : "https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/author/giorgibros" }, "dateModified" : "2024-04-18T00:46:15.991Z", "datePublished" : "2021-03-09T22:08:16.000Z", "headline" : "Guide To Custom Furniture", "mainEntityOfPage" : { "@id" : "https://blog.giorgibros.com/blog/2021/03/09/guide-to-custom-furniture", "@type" : "WebPage" }, "publisher" : { "@type" : "Organization", "logo" : { "@type" : "ImageObject", "url" : "https://blog.giorgibros.com/hubfs/GiorgiBros-%20Clear%20Background-%20With%20black%20Text.jpg" }, "name" : "Giorgi Bros Furniture" } } ```
